Turkey Chilli
This recipe was sent to us by Claire and Lucy, two of our online blogger mums. Their challenge was to cook a family meal using turkey for under £10. Here's what they thought:

What we thought:
It's delicious, easy to make, healthy, and if you have some in the freezer you always feel like a good meal awaits. It's a one pot wonder and you don't have to serve it with anything else, so It feel it's going to become a regular in our household. 
Essential Ingredient:
Turkey Mince
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 medium onions, chopped

3 tsps ground cumin

1.2 kilos of turkey mince

1 tsp chilli powder

4 bay leaves

2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tsp salt

half tsp cinnamon

2 x 450g tinned tomatoes

450ml beef stock

2 x 450g butter beans

To serve:
Coriander and creme fraiche to serve
Is there anything more delicious than a heaping bowl of chilli at the end of the day?
  1. Heat the vegetable oil on a low heat
  2. Add chopped onions and fry for about ten minutes
  3. Add cumin, cook for a minute then turn heat to high
  4. Add turkey. Cook until no longer pink
  5. Stir in chilli powder, bay leaves, cocoa, salt and cinnamon.
  6. Add the tins of tomatoes and stock
  7. Bring to boil, then reduce and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally
  8. Add the beans to the chilli and simmer for another ten minutes or so.
